Security and airfield operations

For security and airfield operational matters, including applications for an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC), Visitor Identification Card (VIC), other airport identification card, or Authority to Drive Airside (ADA), the kinds of personal information we collect may include:

  • identity and background information, such as your place of birth, country of citizenship, gender, photograph, current and previous residential addresses;
  • security assessment information, such as details of previous criminal offences, pending prosecutions, criminal record check outcomes, security assessments, immigration checks and other information provided by relevant government agencies;

Retail, marketing and competition-related matters

For retail, marketing, customer research, promotions and competition-related matters, the kinds of personal information we collect may include:

  • general personal details, such as your name, contact details, age or date of birth and postcode;
  • preference and interest information, such as your preferences concerning types of products, services, offers, retailers, promotions or airport experiences;
  • travel and visit information, such as how often you visit the airport, the methods, purpose and frequency of your travel, and your preferred destinations;

If you apply for a job with us, the kinds of personal information we collect may include:

  • application and contact information, such as your name, contact details, date of birth, gender and information in your application, resume or cover letter;
  • employment and assessment information, such as your work experience, education, qualifications, licences, skills, interview responses, testing results, referee details, background checks, citizenship status or proof of right to work;

  • criminal history and security assessment information where required for aviation security purposes, including when you apply for an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC), Visitor Identification Card (VIC), Authority to Drive Airside (ADA), airport identification card, authority, licence, pass, permission or permit;
  • biometric information and biometric templates, where you choose to participate in a biometric service or where the collection is otherwise permitted by law;
  • diversity information, such as whether you identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, where you provide this information voluntarily and consent to us using it for diversity, inclusion or reporting purposes.

We use and disclose sensitive information only for the purpose for which it was collected, a directly related purpose you would reasonably expect, with your consent, or where required or permitted by law.

 

How do we collect information?

We collect personal information in a number of ways, depending on how you interact with Perth Airport.

Information you provide to us directly

We generally collect personal information directly from you when you:

  • attend an interview, assessment, training, induction or airport access process;
  • make an enquiry, complaint, claim, access request or correction request;
  • report or are involved in a safety, security, operational or customer service incident; or

Information collected when you visit or use the airport

We also collect personal information when you visit Perth Airport or use our facilities, systems or services. This may include information collected through:

  • CCTV, body-worn cameras, hand-held recording devices, smart devices, telephone recordings and other security, surveillance or monitoring systems;
  • licence plate recognition, carpark access systems, parking booking systems and records of carpark entry and exit times;
  • access control, identity card, permit and airside management systems;
  • passenger processing systems, including biometric, self-service, check-in, bag drop or boarding systems;

  • airlines, tenants, retailers, commercial partners and other airport businesses, including partners we work with to promote or provide products and services;

  • government agencies, regulators and law enforcement bodies, including in relation to security, safety, infringement, enforcement or regulatory matters;

Information about other people that you provide to us

If you provide us with personal information about another person, such as a referee, emergency contact, travel companion or authorised representative, you should take reasonable steps to make sure they are aware that you have provided their information to us and that it may be handled in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

  • other access credentials or approvals required to work in, drive in or access areas of Perth Airport.

Employment, contractors and onboarding

We may use your personal information to:

  • process job, contractor or other engagement applications;
  • conduct interviews, assessments, background checks and right-to-work checks;
  • contact referees;
  • manage onboarding, training, induction and access requirements;
  • assess whether you can safely perform the inherent requirements of a role; and

  • in connection with ASIC, VIC, ADA, airport identification card, authority, licence, pass, permission or permit applications;
  • to authorised agents who issue VICs or other access credentials on our behalf;
  • to enforce an infringement notice, fine, airport ban, contract, access condition or other legal right;
  • for law enforcement, safety, security, insurance, claims management or operational purposes;
  • where required by subpoena, court order, tribunal order, statute or other legal process; or
  • where necessary to investigate, respond to or defend claims involving Perth Airport.

Where we disclose personal information to service providers or contractors, we take reasonable steps to require them to use the information only for the purpose for which it was provided and to protect it appropriately.

Is personal information stored outside Australia or disclosed to overseas recipients?

Perth Airport primarily operates in Australia, but we may store personal information outside Australia or disclose personal information to overseas recipients in some circumstances.

  • cloud, software, technology, marketing, analytics, payment, parking, recruitment or customer service providers operate outside Australia;
  • an overseas recipient is involved in providing a service you have requested;

The countries in which overseas recipients may be located include the United Kingdom, the United States of America and countries in the European Union.
